Submission Categories

Oral Presentations

Abstracts that present the results of scientific research, technological advances, innovations in program design, policy development/implementation, practice methods or educational techniques are sought for oral presentations at Preventive Medicine 2010.  Authors of accepted abstracts will present their findings in concurrent sessions, which are 90 minutes in length, with approximately 10-15 minutes allotted to each presenter, depending on the number of presenters selected for that session. The final time allotment will be provided upon notification of acceptance.

Poster Presentations

Abstract authors may apply to have their research graphically presented as a poster presentation at Preventive Medicine 2010.  Poster presentations must be set up in the exhibit hall between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Posters will remain in the exhibit hall for display until Friday, February 19, 2010.  Presenters must be available to discuss their work and answer questions during the formal poster session and reception on Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. More information will be provided upon notification of acceptance.  Abstracts for poster presentations, like abstracts for oral presentations, must present the results of scientific research, technological advances, and innovations in program design, policy development/implementation, practice methods, or educational techniques.

Criteria for Evaluation of Abstracts for Oral or Poster Presentations

  1. Objectives of the research, program or other activity described are clear and consistent with the principles and methods of preventive medicine.

  2. The research was performed using rigorous scientific methods, and/or appropriate program planning and evaluation methods were employed.

  3. Results/outcomes are described and are relevant to the professional practice of other meeting participants.

  4. The proposed presentation will contribute to achieving the overall Preventive Medicine 2010 conference goals.

  5. The topic is relevant to the conference focus areas.

Abstracts are selected on the basis of scientific merit.  Please request “oral” or “poster” presentation. ACPM will make every effort to accommodate your request.
